Water Storage and Purification

Where Does our Water Come From?

Drinking water for Pueblo and surrounding areas comes from wells, springs, and high mountain watersheds that flow into the Arkansas River and the Pueblo Reservoir. The water is treated at various water treatment plants in the area before flowing to storage tanks and homes.

Home Water Storage

Clean drinking water is a necessity that we often take for granted. Whether our drinking water comes from the city of Pueblo water supply or a well, the water can become contaminated and unusable. For emergencies where clean water is not available, store at least 2 weeks of water in your home. 1 gallon of water per person is the minimum recommended amount for drinking, washing dishes, brushing your teeth, and washing your hands.
